What I Do

As an experienced Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for individuals, couples and families, I specialize in relationship issues, premartial and pre-commitment counseling, women’s issues, depression and anxiety. In therapy you will find a strength-based client centered approach, where your unique skills and values are explored to help overcome the areas in which you are stuck. Together, through a safe therapeutic environment and genuine respect for each person, growth, healing and connection will occur as we work towards accomplishing your goals.

Strength-Based Systems Therapy

My approach is strength-based, which means I believe each person has their own strengths and perspectives that should be honored and explored in therapy. We are all also part of a larger system: relationships and social context that shape who we are and what we do. Through a systemic perspective, I view your role in the world around, the people you interact, and how you make sense of yourself in those contexts in my approach to therapy. We explore you, establish goals together, and work towards those goals together. My therapeutic perspective primarily a combination of Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Couples Method, systemic therapy and other tools and perspectives as needed.

Education & TRAINING

I received a Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University. I have worked with families, individuals and children dealing with communication issues, behavior issues, and emotional struggles such as anxiety and depression. Also, I have worked with Premarital couples as a Certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator. I am a Level 3 Gottman Trained Couple’s Therapist. I have completed Level 1 Externship for Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

I am a professional member of both the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and the Washington Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. I was previously on the board of Washington Association of Marriage and Family Therapy as the Associate Representative. I hold a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist.

Before seeking further education as a psychotherapist, I worked for five years as a Certified Sign Language Interpreter. I received my Bachelors of Science from Northeastern University in American Sign Language and English Interpreting. I no longer interpret, but find it immensely rewarding to see people who use American Sign Language in my practice.
